2008 season

The 2008 harvest was a great one, with a large volume of nuts of uniformly high quality. In total we harvested over 8 tonnes between early March and early May, with mainly fine weather during that period assisting the very large job of raking and picking up such quantities.

The good volume of the harvest was a real change from the difficult 2007 drought year, and we currently have good quantities of all products available for sale. Despite this they are unlikely to last the entire season, so if you are interested in purchasing let us know.

farmers markets

You’ll find us at the Slow Food Farmers Market at Abbotsford Convent in Melbourne on the fourth Saturday of each month, between 8am and 1pm.

It’s a fantastic market with heaps of great local farm produce and a wonderful atmosphere. We love being there and would be delighted to see you.

Dates for the rest of the year are 28 June, 23 August, 27 September, 25 October and 22 November. In July we’ll be having a short holiday and won’t be there.

The address is St Heliers Street, Abbotsford (Melways 44G5). For more information click here

farm open day

A great farm open day was held at Mt Buffalo Hazelnuts on 8 March 2008. Arranged by the Hazelnut Growers Association Inc, it included a display of new harvesting equipment and other machinery, a farm walk and tour of the processing sheds, and lunch.

It was great to see so many people there, and we look forward to the next time that Mt Buffalo Hazelnuts hosts such an event. In the meantime, the next farm walk in the region arranged by the HGA will be in the Beechworth region in March or April 2009. Details will be on the HGA website when confirmed click here to view

wandiligong nut festival

The Wandiligong Nut Festival is normally held each year during the famous Bright Autumn festival in late April. The lovely town of Wandiligong, just a few kilometres from Bright, in the foothills of the alps, has proven a great venue for it, and there are also events and activities at the properties of the producers of a range of different nut in the region.

Arrangements and dates for the festival in 2009 are TBA.
